2019 Journalism Symposium

On Monday, February 18th Micah Grimes spoke at the annual Journalism Symposium, which is held by the Troy University Hall School of Journalism and Communication. There were many people in attendance including students, faculty, and even guests around the community.

Micah Grimes, a Troy graduate, gave a lot of advice in his speech that is useful to anyone looking to pursue a huge goal in life. He spoke on many key points that showed how he “made it.” Some of those points include hard work and dedication, to fail and get back up, and to seek out and support diversity.

Morgan Pounds, a Communications major at Troy University, talked about her opinion of the symposium shown in the video below. She stated that one of his best forms of advice that stuck out to her was to “fake it until you make it.”

Overall, Micah Grimes was a very inspirational speaker especially to college students. He explained he came from nothing, worked his way up to get his career underway, and now is excelling in life. As college students, we can relate to these sorts of things and we look up to Grimes in hope to excel in our future as he did.
